Nursery Room Luxuries

Some revealing figures have come out of a survey conducted by Halifax Home Insurance suggesting that on average the UK spends £1.8 billion decorating nurseries.

This equates to parents spending a whopping average of more than £2,600 furnishing and decorating a nursery for a new baby, the survey has shown.

Goods purchased by expectant mums and dads include plasma televisions, designer furniture, rare film memorabilia and signed football shirts for their child's room.

It can be easy to over-spend when decorating and equipping your child's new nursery, especially if it your first born but it must be remembered whatever you plan to spend, whether a little or a lot and whether you go over budget, or not, there are financial implications involved in doing up the nursery.

It is quite possible to create a comfortable and stimulating environment for children at a fraction of the cost of some rooms that are crammed full of the latest gadgets and art. All it takes is a little imagination and a relatively tight hold on the purse strings.

Young babies will get more from a touch and feel book than from a plasma screen TV. Designer furniture does not look so designer with sick on it! The care your child gets is far more important than expensive luxury.
