Why do some kids hate cabbage?

Research shows that some people are born with a gene that makes us more sensitive to detecting bitter compounds in food, like those in broccoli as well as sprouts, watercress and cabbage.
This doesn't mean however that just because your little ones turn their nose up at their greens you should give up on serving them for good. Instead, try serving them with something else that will help to mask their flavour such as serving broccoli in a cheese sauce, blending watercress into a chicken stock based soup, serving sprouts with diced smoked bacon or pouring extra thick gravy over lightly steamed cabbage.
Children's taste buds constantly change so don't rule out a food for good. Research shows that children sometimes need to be presented with a food up to 10 times over several weeks or months before they'll finally accept it as a food they will willingly eat..
